Marquise then went onto pass for 404 yards in the first half alone. Breaking a school record for most passing yards in a half. Along with breaking another record as he scored his 80th touchdown during the game. The most scored by any other UNC player in history. Finishing with 494 passing yards, not to mention 6 completions of 30+ yards while averaging 14.1 yards per play against Duke. Over and over again, Duke’s defensive backs were scorched by UNC’s receiving core. As Marquise’s big yardage throws went to 5 different receivers. Wide Receiver Elijah Wood scored three of Williams’ four touchdowns by himself.
In the end, UNC took control over the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 66-31 win against their Tobacco Road rival. Congratulations to the Charlotte, North Carolina native for breaking two school records this week! You’ll be playing on Sunday’s pretty soon. But until then, it was written!
