Many nationally ranked high school basketball players have come out of the state of North Carolina. Guys like Chris Paul, Tracy McGrady, John Wall and the greatest to ever play, what’s that guy’s name again… Oh yeah Michael Jordan. But every once in a while you’ll get those special guys. You know, the upper echelon and cream of the crop players that are head and shoulders above the competition in skill. Well this year, that one special player is named Harry Giles.
Hailing from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, 6 feet and 10 inches of a long athletic frame stands Harry Giles. Through his high school basketball career, he’s racked up scholarship offers from schools all over the country. But this summer, Harry cut his list to 8 schools. Including Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and UNLV. Harry will begin his official visits to help him decide which school is best for him to attend starting September 19th heading to Wake Forest. A visit to UNC will come next on the 25th, Kansas on the 10th of October, and Kentucky on the 16th. To round out all of his visits, he will head to Duke last on the 31st.
As for where I believe he is going? Smart money is on Duke. In the world of college basketball today, pairing and grouping together with other high-level recruits has been a trend. If that trend stays true, he will lean toward pairing with fellow and close friend Jayson Tatum, who has already committed to Duke. And as you can see, Duke happens to be Harry’s last official visit before he makes his decision. An official date for the decision hasn’t been released yet but he has noted before that he would like the decision to be out of the way before his senior year of basketball season starts in November.
